Arizona Health Insurance Exchange
Arizona has basically done little to set up a health insurance exchange as the 2014 deadline approaches.
Jon Ford, communications director with St. Luke's health initiatives states that “There are 34 states that have enacted laws or taken legislative action or have had governors issue executive orders and we’re among the 16 that have done pretty much nothing,” said Ford. One example; many states are beginning to set up their own Health Insurance Exchange systems. By not creating a system for our state, Ford fears Arizona could end up with one set up by the federal government or just going in on one with several other states, a system that may not work for our unique population.
Arizona has so far not taken any steps toward setting up an exchange. It is expected to have a system in place by 2014, otherwise the federal government will set one up for them.
In addition to your state's health insurance exchange, we recommend that you also compare rates and plans offered from other health insurance quote comparison sites. We recommend InsureMe where you can compare rates from dozens of health insurers such as Aetna, Humana, BCBS, Anthem, United Health and many more.
Another great source for comparing health insurance plans is eHealthInsurance.com.
