Alabama Health Insurance Exchange
Alabama is expected to begin the early stages of the implementation of a health insurance exchange. Gov. elect Bentley has stated that he plans to begin the process of getting an exchange in place before 2014.
The Alabama health insurance exchange will allow Alabama residents a platform from which they will be able to compare standardized, detailed information about various plans and will give them a toll free number from which they can get answers to any questions they may have regarding the exchange and their options.
Alabama is expected to select the health insurers who will be allowed into the exchange. This process is ongoing and an exchange has not yet been set up. It is expected to be in place before 2014.
